Placing monuments to Joseph Stalin in the regions of Russia is part of the Communist party (CPRF) election campaign. Every day we receive messages about the erection or preparation to install busts to the the executioner in the regions of Russia. The busts were placed in Penza, Stavropol, Liptesk, Shelanger village in the Republic of Mari El, the city of Belorechenskoye in the Krasnodar Territory. Ceremonies dedicated to the bust erection took place in the city of Svetlogorsk, the Stavropol Territory, and deputies of of the Stavropol Territory Duma participated in them. Read more »

YABLOKO commemorated victims of the Great Terror

YABLOKO leaders and activists participated in the annual memorial action commemorating the victims of political reprisals during Stalin’s period. The action was organised on the threshold of October 30, the Day of Political Prisoners, established in 1974 by Soviet political prisoners who conducted hunger strikes and lit candles in memory of the victims on that day. The action took place near the FSB (former KGB) building at Lubyanka square by the Solovetsky stone which had been brought from the Solovetsky Islands, the location of the Solovki prison camp which was part of the Soviet Gulag system.
