Sergei Mitrokhin detained by the Presidential Administration

UPD. 14:50. Sergei Mitrokhin released. Antonov-Ovseyenko and Belyansky still remain in the police. Mitrokhin accused of violation of the order of organisation of public actions (article 20.2 of the Administrative Violation Code of Russia).
UPD. 14:40. The lawyer is not allowed to enter the police department.
UPD. 12:40. Journalists are not allowed to enter the Kitai-Gorod police department under a pretext that it is a “high security facility”.
UPD. 12:30. Sergei Mitrokhin, Anton Antonov-Ovseyenko and Stanislav Belyansky brought to the Kitai-Gorod police department, the police took away their mobile telephones.
Today, approximately at 12:00, Sergei Mitrokhin, member of YABLOKO’s Federal Political Committee, was detained by the President’s Administration before the action for the resignation of head of Administration of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov. He was taken to the police station Kitai-Gorod.

Yabloko Youth to show Wakolda movie

On 28 January, the Moscow branch of Yabloko Youth will show a movie called Wakolda (The German Doctor) in YABLOKO main office. The historic drama directed by Lucía Puenzo tells about the life of the Nazi war criminal Josef Mengele, infamous for performing human experiments in the Auschwitz concentration camp, after his escape to Latin America. The film was selected as the Argentine entry for the Best Foreign Language Film at the 86th Academy Awards, but it was not nominated. Read more »

The Court confirmed dismissal of Galina Shirshina from the post of Petrozavodsk Mayor

The Petrozavodsk City Court confirmed the dismissal of Galina Shirshina from the post of Mayor of Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia, [initiated by deputies of the Petrozavodsk City Council]. This was reported by the correspondent of the TASS information agency from the court room. “The court has decided to dismiss the suit [of Galina Shirshina to the city councilors]. The decision can be appealed against in the Supreme Court of the Republic of Karelia through the Petrozavodsk City Court,” Judge Elena Lazareva announced.

Yabloko Youth protested against anti-gay bill

On 18 January, the Moscow branch of Yabloko Youth conducted a series of one-person picketing against the Communist Party’s (CPRF) bill prohibiting to come out as gay. The activists claim that the government must not interfere in the private life of people. They held picketing outside the Communist Party office with the picture of Soviet leader Leonid Brezhnev kissing leader of the German Democratic Republic Erich Honecker. The placard said “CPRF, Brezhnev is ashamed of you. One cannot prohibit love!”.

Pskov Regional Court refused to reinstate Lev Shlosberg as regional MP

Today the Pskov Regional Court has rejected the appeal of Lev Shlosberg, Chair of the Pskov region branch of YABLOKO and member of the Political Committee of the party, on termination of his regional MP proxies by the Legislative Assembly of the Pskov Region and has upheld the decision of the Pskov City Court of 21 October, 2015.
