The deprivation of Lev Shlosberg’s deputy status in the Pskov Regional Assembly on the invented and by far politically motivated grounds is the political mopping up with the person who has been fighting for the prosperity of his region, for the honour and dignity of the Russian military men both alive and fallen, for the right of the citizens to have a dignified life in Russia with all his activities, every step, every statement and every newspaper article. The Pskov Regional Assembly illegally deprived Lev Shlosberg, leader of the Pskov branch of YABLOKO, of his mandate. Shlosberg is going to appeal against the decision in court.

The YABLOKO party lists won elections to four city parliaments: in Tomsk (5.54 per cent), most likely in Kostroma (6.55 per cent, as over 50 per cent of ballots have been counted). In Kaluga, Alexei Kolesnikov, Chair of local YABLOKO branch, passes to the city parliament in a single-mandate constituency. Vladimir Mikhailov who obtained 37 per cent of the vote in his district passes to the Kostroma Regional Duma. Read more »

According to the results of yesterday’s single voting day in Russia, the YABLOKO party has overcome the five percent barrier in three capitals of Russian regions: Kostroma (6.55 per cent), Tomsk (5.54 per cent) and Vladimir (5.50 per cent). Last week Maxim Petlin, former Chair of the Sverdlovsk branch of YABLOKO was released from prison where he served 2,5 years.
On March 21, 2013, the Sverdlovsk Region Court sentenced Maxim Petlin to three years of imprisonment. Petlin was accused of allegedly demanding a 3,000,000 roubles bribe from ZAO Forum Group for his obligation to stop public protests against cutting of the city park by the company and building a shopping center in its place.
YABLOKO claim that the prosecution of Maxim Petlin is related to his political activities, as it was on Petlin’s inquiry that a criminal case against Yekaterinburg Water Canal was filed. Petlin had been investigating the corruption schemes of the company’s management since 2009.

On August 29-30, YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin made a working visit to Voronezh where he met the candidates to the Voronezh City Duma and Duma of the Voronezh region. Mitrokhin also conducted an inspection in the Podgornoye district of the city where an illegal forest destruction is taking place.

On August 28, an unknown man attacked YABLOKO picketing in Ivanovo. As a result, 20 flags with the party symbolic were broken. Moreover, the attacker offended the participants of the action and threatened with bodily harm.

Yesterday Chair of the Karelia branch of YABLOKO, party Political Committee member and entrepreneur Vasily Popov was detained by the police of Finland in Joensuu. According to the politician, the police arrived at his country house. Popov was taken to the pretrial detention centre in Joensuu where he spent the night. He was allowed to keep the phone. On August 22, the Russian flag day, a rally in memory to the events of the coup of 1991 took place. YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin and member of YABLOKO Policial Committee Victor Sheinis participated in the action. The demonstration started from the White House [parliament building] and ended by the monument to the democracy defenders where the rally began. The participants commemorated the memeory of those who died during the events of 1991 with a minute of silence.
