On 17th August, deputy head of Yabloko’s Anti-Corruption Policy Centre Alexei Karnaukhov will announce the winners of the Golden Toilet Brush negative award 2017 on air of Yabloko’a Alternative programme. The prize is made in the shape of a golden toilet brush and will be awarded to the officials who made the most absurd and wasteful purchases out of public funds. The Savelovsky district court of Moscow withdrawn Yabloko’s candidates Anna Paderina, Nikita Krivonosov, Maria Solyenova and Artyem Zhyrokhov from the municipal elections. Upon preliminary information, the main ground for the withdrawal was the lack of the notarised lists of signatures collector, although, according to the law, candidates do not have to provide them. The decision was made upon the application of self-nominated candidates.Read more »
On 4th August, the territorial electoral commission of the Sovetsky district, Nizhny Novgorod, refused to register Deputy Chair of the regional Yabloko branch Oleg Rodin as candidate for a deputy of the city parliament. The head of the commission Alexei Kamrakov refused to listen to the people who came to the meeting to confirm their signatures. He said they had had no right to participate in the meeting. Yabloko Chair Emilia Slabunova sent a request to Governor of the Stavropol Territory Vladimir Vladimirov and the regional prosecutor Anatoly Bogdanchikov calling them to initiate a check of an apartment block at Number 6 Brusneva Ulitsa, Stavropol, which the authorities refuse to declare substandard housing despite its condition. Teacher of the world artistic culture Alexander Demakhin, 32, decided to participate in the forthcoming municipal elections in Sergiyev Posad, the Moscow Region, of 10 September, 2017, as Yabloko’s candidate. He brought the documents to the territorial electoral commission in the end of July. In several days’ time he reported that he had been dismissed from the school because “local authorities disapprove of his participation in the public life of Sergiyev Posad”. Read more »

Collection of signatures for Russia’s withdrawal from the war in Syria was launched in Moscow within the framework of the Time to Return Home campaign targeted at allotting federal budget funds to Russia’s domestic development, not to foreign policy ambitions and adventures. On July 26-27, Yabloko Chair Emilia Slabunova visited the Republic of North Ossetia to support Yabloko’s list of candidates for the regional parliament. The party collected 2,782 signatures in order to go through the municipal filter. On 26 July, the activists brought the signatures to the regional electoral commission.
A fire broke out at the Central House of the Entrepreneur, where the 35mm cinema is situated. The news was reported by the owners of the cinema. A female employee of the cinema is reported to have been injured but she was rescued by the fire brigade. Read more »
