The leader of Yabloko about that neither of the sides in the war between the Kremlin and Washington will have mercy on Russian citizens
Grigory Yavlinsky’s web-site, 27.08.2018
Sanctions have already been imposed on Russia: personal sanctions , those against certain companies and products, sectoral sanctions against the military-industrial complex and oil and gas enterprises, and territorial in Crimea. Sanctions have been imposed because of corruption, theft and murder of [lawyer] Sergei Magnitsky, because of the annexation of Crimea and lies about the referendum on the peninsula, because of the war in Donbass, because of interference in the elections in the US… Now here go sanctions because of poisoning [of the Skripals] in Salisbury. Since neither calls nor statements nor demands, neither external nor internal affect the Kremlin, the words were backed up by practical measures – sanctions, so that it was clear that all this was not just rhetoric, that it was necessary to change the politics: to stop the war in Donbass, solve the problem of Crimea on the basis of international law, withdraw from Syria and not cover the crimes of Bashar al Assad, stop false propaganda and engaging in provocations around the world… But since Vladimir Putin’s policy have not changed, and all the persons who are “subject to sanctions” remain in their posts and do the same, then the new sanctions, which come into effect on 27 August, symbolise the beginning of a qualitatively different stage. Now it will be sanctions against everyone.

In the appeal, Grigory Yavlinsky recalls that the unlawful intentions of the defendants of the case of the “New Greatness”, if they existed, were totally provoked by an unknown person who was being held as a secret witness in the case, as well as by two other witnesses officially included in the state of law enforcement bodies.

Emilia Slabunova’s Facebook page, 20.08.2018
Instead of providing housing to almost 160,000 Russian orphans who do not have it, saving children from family violence (according to unofficial data in 2016, more than 2,500 children aged 2 weeks to 14 years became victims of domestic violence), creating conditions for upbringingadolescents, so that they do not set priceless temples on fire [like was the recent case in Karelia], and solutions to many other problems related to the not-so-beautiful situation of children in the country, the state represented by the Ministry of Education decided to fight against people who seek to create human conditions for orphans – their foster parents [proposing to introduce a law envisaging a ban on having more than three adopted children in a foster family] .
There is neither explanation nor justification for this. Cannibal laws for some reason always come to us much faster and easier than laws that should stand for the protection of children’s rights and their happy childhood.

Mikhail Fedotov, head of the Human Rights Council, believes that the problem of transparency in getting permission to hold rallies can be resolved in court
Press Release, 17.08.2018
The Novosibirsk branch of Yabloko formulated its demands as to the protection of freedom of rallies in its written appeal to Mikhail Fedotov, head of the Human Rights Council under the President of the Russian Federation.
Members of the Yabloko party made a proposal to make the procedure for getting permission for the date, time and venue of the rallies more open and transparent. Yabloko activists say that one of the solutions to the problem maybe creation of an online schedule of events and their venues which should be published on the official website of the Mayor’s Office, or a handwritten magazine with a similar demonstration of the timetable open to all those interested to organise a public event or action.

The Yabloko party took part in the march and rally on the anniversary of the democrats’ victory over the attempted coup d’etat in 1991
Press Release, 22.08.2018
Today, on Russia’s Flag Day, the leaders and activists of the Yabloko party took part in the action dedicated to the anniversary of the democrats’ victory over attempted coup d’etat organised in 1991 by the so-called State Emergency Committee that attempted to put an end to perestroika and return Russia back to the Soviet past. The participants of the action demonstrated from the Gorbaty Bridge by the Russian Government’s building to the monument to the defenders of democracy located at the intersection of Novy Arbat and the Garden Ring, where the meeting was held.
Yabloko Chair Emilia Slabunova recalled that 100 years ago the Bolsheviks banned the use of the Russian tricolor flag as a national flag.
“It was returned to us 27 years ago as a symbol of the victory of democracy over the heirs of the Bolsheviks,” the party Chair noted. “But, unfortunately, the victory was not final: [we are witnessing now the government’s] reprisals against political opponents, eviction of the St. Petersburg branch of the Memorial human rights society from its office, prolongation of the arrest for Yury Dmitriyev [head the Karelian branch of the Memorial society] until October, Oyub Titiev [head of the Chechen branch of Memorial] is kept behind the bars, they are firing people from jobs and arresting them for their putting ‘likes’ in the social media, they fabricate criminal cases like the [recent] case of the New Greatness Group [of young people discussing politics but accused in extremism], [Ukrainian film director Oleg] Sentsov has been on hunger strike over a hundred days already [demanding from the Russian authorities to release Ukrainian political prisoners kept in Russian prisons].”
