Recently, Alexei Navalny has released a documentary about President Putin’s palace in Gelendzhik. It graphically retells media investigations, revelations by the palace builders, and Yabloko’s investigation of 2011. Few expected such a luxurious decoration inside the palace with an area of 17,691 sq m and vineyards of imperial proportions.

School directors in ten pilot Russian regions will get advisors on moral building and disciplinary work with a rate of pay amounting to 15,000 roubles. This was announced by Minister of Education of Russia Sergei Kravtsov during his meeting with the President on 12 January. Is it feasible to introduce such new position? What might the functions [of such advisors] be? Mathematician Azat Miftakhov was sentenced to six years in prison for a broken window in the office of [the ruling] United Russia [party]. The crime has not been proven, and one of the two anonymous witnesses has died.
Historian Yury Dmitriyev [who found in Karelia one of the largest places of mass burial of Stalin’s victims in Russia] was sentenced to 13 years in prison. The case against the historian was completely fabricated in revenge for his activities in perpetuation of the memory of the victims of Stalin’s reprisals.

The Anti-Corruption Policy Centre of the Yabloko party has summed up the results of the Golden Toilet Brush anti-award for officials’ most wasteful state procurement purchases. The first prize went to Alexander Bugayev, Director of Russian Youth (Rosmolodezh) for the state procurement for the development of “soft skills” of the Cossacks for 3 million roubles. The Golden Toilet Brush in the regional nomination was awarded to Gleb Nikitin, Governor of the Nizhny Novgorod region, for purchasing an elite tour for two Instagram bloggers in the state procurement purchase for 2.3 million roubles. The Governor of the Chelyabinsk region received a special prize – The Golden Сaviar Dish – for his expensive elite gifts to other officials.

The money was spent by the Governor’s Office on purchases of a premium car, luxury gifts and banquets. The relevant statements were sent to the Control and Accounts Chamber, the regional Public Prosecutor’s Office, and the Main Control Department of the region.

This follows from the answer of Alexander Belsky, Vice Governor of St. Petersburg, to the inquiry of Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov.

Towards the end of the outgoing 2020 (on 28 December), a meeting of the Electoral Commission of the Altai Territory was held in a covert way, the meeting completed the formation of territorial electoral commissions (TECs) in the Altai Territory. A total of 74 TECs have been formed in the region, that will have to “decide” the fate of elections in the region within five years.

Irina Kopylova, head of the Zaboryevskoye rural settlement, falsified the decision of the Council of Deputies to increase her wage supplement. The forged decision was sent to the financial department, and according to this faked decision Kopylova illegally received more than 240,000 roubles at the end of 2020.
The forgery was revealed by Anatoly Kivva, deputy of the Council of Deputies of the Zaboryevskoye rural settlement from the Yabloko party. He turned to the police with a statement in which he demanded to bring those guilty of the fraud to criminal responsibility under of Article 160 Part 3 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This provision of the Criminal Code assumes responsibility for the appropriation or embezzlement of property entrusted to a person, committed by this person with the help of his/her official post. The responsibility for this crime envisages up to six years in prison. Irina Kopylova was nominated to her post by the pro-government United Russia party.

Bellingcat investigates possible poisoning of Yabloko party activist Timur Kuashev and other opposition politicians

Investigative journalist Christo Grozev released the names of the people whom Bellingcat was checking for their possible poisoning of politician Alexei Navalny, as well as their potential involvement in the group of the Federal Security Service (FSB) officers engaged in such poisonings.
The question of whether any other Russian public figures could have become victims of the poisoning arose after Grozev published the data on the recent movements throughout Russia of a group of people who were allegedly involved in the poisoning of Alexei Navalny. Social media users, in particular, found that the stay of some alleged FSB officers coincided with mysterious deaths of Caucasian activists – Yabloko party member Timur Kuashev and Ruslan Magomedragimov.

The Ryazan branch of Yabloko appealed to the Public Prosecutor’s Office in connection with the officials’ acceptance of non-implemented landscaping works in Kasimov

The Ryazan branch of the Yabloko party appealed to regional Public Prosecutor Ivan Panchenko in connection with the fact that on December 7, as follows from the documents posted on the Public Procurement Portal, officials signed an acceptance certificate (signed by Vladimir Lusenkov, an employee of the Kasimov city administration) for the works that had to be performed in the city garden in the city of Kasimov. The contractor was the UK Uyutny Dom company. The act contains a handwritten note stating that “the scope of works has been completed in full in accordance with the costs stated in the pro forma invoice”.

After Lev Shlosberg’s appeal Public Prosecutor declared unlawful the transfer of state property to the non-profit organisation Loft

At the request of Lev Shlosberg, Yabloko MP of the Regional Assembly of the Pskov Region, the Public Prosecutor of the Pskov region checked the legality of the transfer of three buildings in the historical centre of Pskov, which belonged to the Pskov city hospital, to the ANO Youth Development Centre “Loft” for free use. The Public Prosecutor’s Office found that the organisation is not socially oriented, and thus, according to the law, it could not get state property for use bypassing the auction. The Public Prosecutor sent an order to the Committee for Property Management of the region on the need to terminate the rights of ownership and use of the buildings by Loft and return them to the treasury of the Pskov region

Deputies of the regional parliament adopted the budget of the Pskov region for 2021 in three readings. In the third and final reading, the bill was supported by a pro-government majority of 33 deputies (the United Russia, and A Just Russia factions). The leaders of the regional branches of Yabloko, the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and LDPR condemned the colonial budgetary policy of the federal centre and refused to support the bill.
