On July 30, Chairman of the Yabloko party Nikolai Rybakov discussed the environmental problems of the Maritime (Primorsky) Territory at a meeting with environmentalists of the region, Anatoly Lebedev, Editor-in-Chief of the journal Ecology and Business, and Andrei Belovodsky, a member of the Academy of Sciences of Ecology and Life Safety. The main topic of the meeting was specially protected natural areas, the number of which in the region is more than two hundred.

The Saratov branch of Yabloko, Golos (a movement engaged in independent elections observation) and other independent observers have joined together to form Civic Control, a coordination centre for election observation and monitoring of violations, which also sets the task of encouraging citizens to become independent observers, and training of observers. The Saratov branch of Yabloko, in turn, promises to send all observers from the Civic Control to polling stations from Yabloko (as only political parties and mass media can send observers).

Yabloko will not keep silent about COVID-19

The Yabloko party refused to sign an agreement proposed by the pro-government United Russia party on holding elections amid the coronavirus pandemic.
The reason is the fourth paragraph of the document, which provides for the refusal of the political parties participating in the parliamentary elections to discuss the actions of the authorities in combatting the pandemic.
Yabloko party Chairman Nikolai Rybakov said that Yabloko would not keep silent about the government’s mistakes in combatting the pandemic. “We think it is absolutely necessary to discuss this vital issue during the election campaign, [this problem] has already cost our country nearly 300,000 lives of Russia’s citizens.

The present authorities of the Republic of Belarus have switched to the tactics of total destruction of mass media that are not controlled by the state, civil society organisations and dissidents.
After the refusal to recognise the real results of the elections and the suppression by force of a peaceful mass protest, unprecedented for Europe, the current Belarusian authorities have been repeatedly persecuting and suppressing any free opinion and expression of will. They deliberately come into conflict with the outside world, aiming at the only priority to maintain the monopoly of the political and economic power of Alexander Lukashenko.

The Supreme Court dismissed the administrative law suit of the Yabloko party against the Central Electoral Commission regarding the cancellation of public video broadcasting from polling stations. In connection with large-scale forest fires and smoke pollution of settlements in Yakutia, the Yabloko party demands to introduce an emergency regime completely throughout the Republic, and not only in the regional forests (which was done by the decree of the head of Yakutia).
We demand from the country’s leadership to allocate additional funds from the federal budget to fight forest fires in the Republic. It is impossible to defeat fires of this magnitude by collecting donations from the population.

– The duty of the Central Electoral Commission is to ensure fair and transparent elections, including the voting and the counting of votes. If there are no resources, there is no need to hold a vote in three days, tripling the costs of the work of members of electoral commissions.

The Yabloko party appealed to the Supreme Court with a claim against the Central Electoral Commission

The Yabloko party filed an administrative lawsuit with the Supreme Court of the Russian Federation on the recognition of the Central Electoral Commission’s decision on cancelling public broadcasts from polling stations during elections of the State Duma deputies inappropriate to the law. On 14 July, the Central Electoral Commission decided to abandon public broadcasts from polling stations on voting days which, according to Yabloko, would hamper observation in the elections.
The election observation institute is designed to ensure citizens’ confidence in the election results and the institutions of representative democracy resulting from elections, the lawsuit runs.
