Only after presidential candidate Yavlinsky interfered, unlawful infill construction in Kravchenko street, Moscow, was abolished
Press Release, 05.03.2018
Oleg Volkov, head of the South-West District of Moscow, announced today that construction of a 17-storey block of flats instead of a children’s playground in one of the yards in Kravchenko street was abolished. Yesterday presidential candidate Grigory Yavlinsky and leader of the Moscow branch of Yabloko Sergei Mitrokhin participated in the residents’ rally against the construction.
Volkov also stated that he revoked the order for construction works in Kravchenko street and this plot of land will be transferred into the status of “communal land”.
He also said that the problem with the shareholders of the construction cooperative (that planned to build a block of flats in the yard of residential housing in Kravchenko street) would be solved and they would get housing in other blocks of flats.
Sergei Mitrokhin, leader of the Moscow branch of Yabloko, has helped the residents of the area to defend their rights and oppose the unlawful construction works since 30 September, 2017.
“I would like to congratulate the residents of the area, they have won against the greed of the developer and dishonesty and negligence of the officials. Hope, the authorities will keep their promise,” Mitorkhin noted.
Grigory Yavlinsky stressed in his speech at the rally that in case he was elected Russian President he would pay due attention to such cases. Earlier Yavlinsky had sent an appeal to Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin against the unlawful construction in Kravchenko street.
