Press Release, 21.03.2019
Natalya Tumureyeva, Chairperson of the Yabloko in Biryatia, became a participant in the meeting of the heads of the Federation Council, the upper chamber of the Russian parliament, with environmental activists from Russian regions. The meeting was attended by Ivan Valentik, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Environment, and representatives of 80 constituent entities of the Russian Federation.
“We talk a lot about environmental volunteering, about environmental education, but today people are engaged in this with sheer enthusiasm, and here we need government support. Russia needs a law on environmental education and awareness. Otherwise, everything will be maintained by volunteers only. The subject of environmental studies should be introduced in schools and this discipline should be in all specialties in universities,” Natalia Tumureyeva noted.
In addition, the Chair of the Buryat Yabloko asked Ivan Valentik, Deputy Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology, a question about a possibility of making proposals to the national project “Preservation of Lake Baikal”.
