Moscow Public Prosecutor to examine lawfulness of the decision on demolition of historical buildings
Press Release, 29.01.2015
YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin has sent an appeal to Public Prosecutor of the city of Moscow Sergei Kudeneyev demanding to examine the information that the protocol of the Commission on Moscow urban development and historical heritage, which decided to demolish tenement Privalov’s historical houses in the centre of the city, was falsified.
Sergei Mitrokhin also demands to check the actions of Marat Khusnullin, Vice Mayor of Moscow and Chair of the Commission, and Vladimir Safronov, Comission’s Executive Secretary, on the abuse of power and forgery in accordance with Articles 285 and 292 of the Criminal Code.
If the information is confirmed, the case should be sent to the Investigation Committee for criminal prosecution.
On December 24, 2014, the Commission of the Government of Moscow on urban development and historical heritage decided to demolish buildings No 2 and 3 of Privalov’s commercial apartment buildings at Sadovnicheskaya 9.
According to the protocol of the Commission, the decision was taken by 16 votes against 4. The protocol shows that Andrei Bokov, President of the Union of Architects of Russia, was among those who voted for the decision. However, Bokov in his letter to NGO Architectural Control (Arkhnadzor) claimed that he had not attended the meeting as he had not been in Moscow.
It turns out that the protocol of the meeting was falsified.
“This casts doubt on the legitimacy of the decision adopted by the Commission, and this decision was underlay further issuing a warrant to the developer for the demolition of these buildings,” Mitrokhin concluded.
On January 27 YABLOKO picketed the Mayor’s office and on February 1 YABLOKO will conduct a rally for the resignation of Marat Khusnullin.
