Mitrokhin: pensioners are bribed by a food-stuffs gift in exchange for their votes in favour of the acting Mayor Sobynin
Press Release, September 6, 2013
Candidate for Moscow Mayor Sergei Mitrokhin told in his interview to the Ekho Moskvi radio station that he disposed of information that acting Mayor Sergei Sobyanin had been bribing voters. Mitrokhin said that he disposed of an invoice from a social service that was distributing “gift” food-stuffs packages to pensioners in exchange for their votes at the Moscow mayoral elections this Sunday.
The invoice contained food-stuffs description, their number and price. The food-stuffs indicated in the invoice were tinned corn, tinned peas, olives, pineapples, sprats, sausage, tea, coffee, cookies and sweets – 11 items in total – for the amount of 1001 roubles (approximately Euro 23).
Mass media provide numerous evidence that such buying of votes in favour of the acting Mayor has been taking place on a grand scale in Moscow.
