Mitrokhin demands that President must dismiss Moscow Mayor
Press release, 10.02.2016
Today Sergei Mitrokhin, member of YABLOKO’s Federal Political Committee and Chair of Moscow YABLOKO, has farwarded an application to President of Russia Vladimir Putin with the demand to dismiss Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin in connection with the gross violation of property rights caused by the mass demolition of sales premises in Moscow.
On the night of 9 February, 2016, the Moscow authorities together with the police and court marshals started to demolish the sales premises next to the metro stations: convenient stores, budget pharmacies, communication service shops and other non-food goods.
In all, thousands of square meters of the sales premises worth over 22 billion roubles will be demolished. As a result, tens of thousands people will lose their jobs and the federal and regional budgets will lose billions of roubles of tax remission.
In his application Sergei Mitrokhin stresses that in the conditions of an economic crisis the authorites must care about providing employment more than about the appearance of the streets.
“The Moscow authorities crudely violate the private property rights guaranteed by Article 35 of the Constitution, therefore I demand that Moscow Mayor Sergei Sobyanin must be removed from his post,” stated Sergei Mitrokhin.
