To give a bit of warmth to those who especially need care — that was the goal pursued by Maritime Territory Yabloko party members when they announced a fundraising appeal at the beginning of December for orphaned children in the village of Mysovaya. In the end, thanks to donations from caring people and Yabloko supporters, they managed to raise enough for an entire van load of fruit.

“On 26 December, Maritime Territory Yabloko congratulated the children in Mysovaya on the approaching New Year,” the party’s regional branch reported. “We brought fruit that rarely appears on children’s tables. The children’s joy and their warm welcome were the best reward for us.”

It should be noted that the pre-New Year fundraising took place in an interactive format on social media. A picture of a New Year tree was published in advance, and each new monetary transfer received by the organisers “decorated” the tree with a new ornament. By the end of the fundraising period, the entire tree was “glowing” with bright ornaments and garlands, and a van carrying tangerines, pears, mangoes and other fruit treats was sent to the children’s orphanage thanks to the donations collected.
