The memorial event in memory of the victims of political repression in Russia organised by the Ivanovo branch of Yabloko took place in the park near the Ivanovo circus on 30 October. The participants of the action paid tribute to the memory of the victims of political repression and demanded the release of all the political prisoners who are currently in prison.
At the end of the action, Andrei Avtoneyev, the leader of the Ivanovo branch of Yabloko was detained and taken to the police department. A protocol on an administrative offense under Article 20.2 of the Administrative Code “Violation of the procedure for holding a meeting, rally, picketing” was drawn up against him. Avtoneyev is charged with organising and holding an unpermitted public event.
It should be noted that the square where the Yabloko action was taking place is a so-called “Hyde Park” in the city, i.e. a specially designated place for public actions where such actions do not require any permissions from the authorities.
Andrei Avtoneyev will face trial for an “unpermitted public action” on Monday, 1 November.
