Krasnodar YABLOKO Youth protested against conscription

The Krasnodar branch of YABLOKO Youth conducted one-person pickets against the conscription system. The picket took place in the city of Yeysk, the Krasnodar Territory. Alexander Korovayny, leader of local YABLOKO Youth participated in the street action of protest.
The placard said: “Army based on contract principles – yes, conscription – no”.
The action was timed to the beginning of the spring draft.
YABLOKO Youth’s actions in support of a contract-based army also took place in Novosibirsk (the Novosibirsk Region), Vladikavkaz (North Ossetia) , Stavropol (the Stavropol Territory) and Moscow.
Conscription in Russia is a 12-month draft, mandatory for all male citizens age 18–27, with a number of exceptions.
