Konstantin Smirnov: the votes of United Russia, A Just Russia and the Pensioners’ Party helped to allocate 20 million roubles to the wage increase for the aids of regional Duma deputies
Konstantin Smirnov’s blog post, 29.12.2020
On 24 December, the Ryazan Regional Duma, adopted by 32 votes out of 40 a decision to increase the wages for assistants of Duma deputies by more than two times – up to 60,000 roubles. This increase will require an additional 20 million roubles per year.
This decision was adopted due to the votes of deputies from the [pro-government] parties United Russia, A Just Russia and the Russian Party of Pensioners for Social Justice. The rest of the deputies abstained.
This decision means a deception of voters, as each of the three [pro-government] parties promised the voters, in the past elections to the regional Duma, socially oriented solutions, and not additional spending on their own needs. One can argue a lot what the salary is adequate for assistants. But it is quite obvious that in today’s Duma most of the people who get these salaries do nothing at all. The legislative activity of the deputies is zero. At the Duma sessions they ask such questions, from which it follows that the deputies do not even get acquainted with the documents submitted to them. Most of them do not receive citizens on a regular basis. In such circumstances, assistants are not loaded with work even for the minimum wage.
