How to get rid of Putin?
Grigory Yavlinsky’s web-site, 26.10.2020
Will Mr.Putin remain President after 2024, they ask him at the Valdai Club meeting. My colleagues ask me about the same on a Yabloko party stream.
Vladimir Putin compares himself to Saint Francis and says that “this must certainly end some day”. However, in Belarus, for example, the people decided that the usurpation of power should end right now, and took to the streets.
However, getting rid of an authoritarian ruler and his system is only possible when dozens of millions of people across the country want change. And even this is an insufficient, albeit a necessary, condition. Politics is needed so that the desired changes could become reality: political demands, political programmes, political leaders and real functioning political parties. It is fundamentally important that millions of citizens of the country know and understand these political requirements and programmes. Preparing such a platform and explaining it to people is the main task of a political party in an authoritarian system.
