Today is the 15th anniversary since Vladimir Putin was elected President of Russia. YABLOKO founder Grigory Yavlinsky was Vladimir Putin’s competitor at the presidential elections in 2000…
“… I am not going to fight for a “good” Putin. I am going to fight against Putin for the post of the President of Russia. I will fight against the man, [who is famous for] the most disgusting and dirty election campaign in the history of Russia for the six months of his being in office. It was under Putin when antiterror operation [in Chechnya] transformed into a total war with a huge number of victims. It under Putin, when an open alliance between the Kremlin, the Communists and nationalists was formed. It was under Putin when an attack on the freedom of the press was launched…, ” Grigory Yavlinsky said in an election campaign interview.
