Freedom to Alexander Korovainy!
Statement by the Yabloko party, 25.06.2020
A court in Yeysk arrested for ten days Alexander Korovainy, a municipal deputy, member of the Yabloko Party known not only in Yeysk, but throughout the Krasnodar Territory as an activist fighting against the tyranny of local authorities and for protection of the environment.
Alexander was accused of allegedly “not fulfilling the lawful order of the police” during a rally against Vladimir Putin’s constitutional amendments. At the same time, police officers did not introduce themselves and did not wear mandatory breast badges.
The activist will serve the administrative arrest far from Yeysk – 120 kilometers from it, in the village of Kanevskaya. This makes us reasonably worry about his safety and respect for his rights.
Yabloko considers the arrest of Korovainy a political revenge on the part of the leadership of Yeysk and the Krasnodar Territory and demands his immediate release.

Yabloko Chairman
