“The only issue of current importance to us at the moment is to win the State Duma election of 18 September,” YABLOKO Chairperson Emilia Slabunova said during the extended meeting of the Regional Council of the Moscow Region branch of the party. “I do not want to use such word combinations as “a successful campaign” and “successful participation”. We must aim at winning the elections. All the rest issues will be obscured for the next few months,” she stressed.

“By winning the elections we shall mean the forming of a faction in the State Duma,” YABLOKO Chairperson said. She reminded that that was only the first stage of the campaign. The second stage will be the participation of YABLOKO’s candidate in the presidential elections.

Emilia Slabunova spoke about the work that was being done to win the elections. The key priority is given to the selection of candidates.

“We need active, competent people with a good reputation,”  YABLOKO Chair noted.

YABLOKO’s electoral programme is being developed at the moment. The expert community is participating in the process. Petrozavodsk Ex-Mayor Galina Shirshina,who was deprived of her post, takes active participation in preparation for the elections. YABLOKO is focusing attention on online networking as well.
