Election Commission registered YABLOKO’s list of candidates in Novgorod

Today, August 14, the Election Commission of the Novgorod Region has registered YABLOKO’s list of candidates in the election to the regional parliament.
Previously the Regional Election Commission refused to register the party list of candidates on the far-fetched pretexts. YABLOKO appealed against the decision to the Central Election Commission. Party candidates also held actions of protest outside the Government of the Novgorod Region.
On August 12, the Central Election Commission settled YABLOKO’s claim against the decision of the Election Commission of the Novgorod Region. The Central Election Commission members came to the conclusion that there was no reason to believe that the list of candidates for the Novgorod Region Parliament was processed in contravention of the law.
“Since the other grounds for denial of registration of the list of candidates has not been established, the disputed decision is unlawful and subject to cancellation,” runs the regulation of the Central Election Commission.
The election to the Novgorod Region Duma will take place on 18 September.
