Court left Vitishko in colony
Press Release, 24.09.2014
The Krasnodar regional court dismissed the Krasnosar regional prosecutor’s citation on cancelation of the decision to turn the suspended sentence to Evgeny Vitishko into a full tree year jail term. YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin who was present at the court hearing announced about this decision.
Deputy prosecutor of the Krasnodar Territory noted that the issue that Vitishko had supposedly broken the suspended sentence regime wasn’t examined by court of the first instance. The prosecutor demanded to release Vitishko from the colony.
“The infractions that the committed aren’t systemic and the change of punishment can take place only in case the infractions are systemic”, he said.
Despite this the court took the decision to leave Evgeny Vitishko in the colony.
“I think that it’s a political order of governor Alexandr Tkachyov. The regional court have shown that it depends on the city administration. But we’ll carry on struggling for Evgeny Vitishko’s freedom, we’ll conduct actions and intensify international resonance as in our opinion the ecologist is innocent”, noted Sergei Mitrokhin.
Lawyers will appeale against the decision.
