Committee for Joint Action against Xenophobia conducted its second meeting

A second meeting of the Committee for Joint Action against Xenophobia was conducted at Moscow Helsinki Group office on December 9.
Secretary of YABLOKO Political Committee Galina Mikhaleva, representatives of Moscow Helsinki Group Vadim Karastelyev and Olga Fedorova, municipal deputies Mikhail Menshikov and Grigory Semyonov, head the Open Shore environmental movement Sergei Menzheritsky, President of the Interregional Uzbek Community “Vatandosh” Usman Baratov, Chair of the Moscow Anti-fascist centre Yevgeny Proshechkin and a civil activist Tatyana Vinogradova participated in the meeting.
Members of the Committee established the work schedule. They discussed the participation in the anti-fascist march, which will take place on December 19, and the action devoted to the International Holocaust Remembrance Day on January 27. Members of the Committee prepared an appeal to the society and authorities on establishing the Migrants Ombudsman position. They will start collecting signatures in support of the initiative soon.
The next meeting will take place at YABLOKO’s office in January.
At the end of the meeting Galina Mikhaleva reminded that not only human rights advocates and public organisations, but civil activists as well are welcome to join the Committee’s work.
