The Presnensky District Court of Moscow found Maria Volokh, a former candidate for municipal deputies of Moscow from the Yabloko party, guilty of a repeated violation of the established procedure for organising or holding a public event and appointed her 20 days of administrative arrest under Article 20.2, Part 8 of the Code of Administrative Offenses.
Maria Volokh was detained and taken to the Arbat police station on 21 November, the day after she and three civil activists took part in a street action against the escalation of the nuclear conflict.
During the municipal election campaign in Moscow in September 2022, the Tverskoy District Court withdrew candidate Maria Volokh from the election, allegedly for a residence permit in the Netherlands, which she did not have. Later, the same court fined Volokh, the unregistered candidate for municipal deputies, 60,000 roubles under Articles 20.2 (“violation of the rules for holding public events”) and 20.3.3 (“discrediting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation”) of the Code of Administrative Offenses for an action against censorship and repression.
