My work in the Legislative Assembly terminates on 30 October. I thank the people of St. Petersburg who trust me and continue to trust me
I categorically disagree with the decision of the Ministry of Justice to declare me a “foreign agent”. Understanding that it is virtually impossible to achieve justice and lawfulness in political cases today, I am challenging this decision in court and will continue to do so, protecting my honour and reputation.
However, now the law makes me to step down from office as a deputy of [St.Petersburg] parliament.
Yabloko has consistently opposed the repressive legislation on “foreign agents” aimed at persecuting dissidents and derailing the will of citizens who elected their deputies for alleged “foreign influence”, but, in fact, for disagreement with the state policies. This is contrary to the Constitution and leads to dictatorship.
The laws on “foreign agents” must be repealed.
The Yabloko faction in the Legislative Assembly of St.Petersburg will continue to work in the interests of our voters.
Yours,
Boris Vishnevsky
