Alexander Shishlov elected a member of the Federal Political Committee of Yabloko

Alexander Shishlov, head of the Yabloko faction in the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg and ex Ombudsman for Human Rights in St.Petersburg, was additionally elected a member of the Federal Political Committee of the Yabloko party, 88 delegates of the the 21st Yabloko Party Congress voted for him. The Congress was held in closed format in Moscow today, on 16 April.
Alexander Shishlov was born in Leningrad in 1955. Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences. Member of Yabloko since 1993.
Deputy of the State Duma of the 2nd and 3rd convocations, Chairman of the Committee on Education and Science of the State Duma of the 3rd convocation. In 1996-2003, he was a member of the delegation of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation to the Parliamentary Assembly of the Council of Europe (PACE).
In 2005-2012 – Advisor to the Permanent Mission of Russia to International Organisations in Vienna.
In 2012-2021 – Commissioner for Human Rights in St. Petersburg. In 2015, in accordance with the new legislation on the Commissioner, he had to suspend his membership in Yabloko.
In 2021, he was elected to the Legislative Assembly of St. Petersburg on the list of the Yabloko party. Resumed his membership in Yabloko.
The Federal Political Committee is the collegiate governing body of the Yabloko party and formulates Yabloko’s position on major political issues between congresses. The Federal Political Committee consists of 17 members. The Chairman of the Federal Political Committee is Grigory Yavlinsky, founder and the first Chairman of Yabloko.
