The Supreme Court of the Republic of Udmurtia has annulled the registration of the Chair of the Yabloko regional branch in Udmurtia, Iya Boronina, a candidate for deputy of the State Duma in the Izhevsk single-mandate constituency No. 39.

The claim to disqualify her was filed by her rival in the constituency — Anton Golovkov, a candidate from the “A Just Russia — For Truth” party.

The court hearing took place on 7 September in the absence of Iya Boronina. She had not been notified that the case was being heard and learned of the ruling only on 9 September, after a call from the court of appeal.

The appeal against the ruling was filed by the claimant himself. Boronina believes this may have been done to reduce the time available to her to appeal the decision independently.

The court’s ruling has not yet entered into force.

The content and grounds of the claim against Boronina remain unknown at present. “Once we have reviewed the case file, we will submit an appeal,” said the Chair of Yabloko in Udmurtia.

Boronina became the fourth regional Yabloko branch leader to be disqualified from the State Duma elections in a single-mandate constituency. Courts had earlier annulled the registration of Anton Paramonov in the Tula Region, Yaroslav Shcherbakov in the Chelyabinsk Region, and Sergei Kryzhov in the Moscow Region.

In total, 18 Yabloko candidates in single-mandate constituencies have been disqualified from the State Duma elections following claims filed by representatives of other parties. As of today, 120 of the party’s candidates continue to take part in the election campaign across 48 regions of the country.
