Past Saturday, 4 July, Novgorod Yabloko held its regional branch conference and put forward its list of candidates for the Novgorod Regional Duma in the upcoming elections. Delegates voted unanimously to include 19 candidates on the regional list, with a further 13 candidates put forward in single-mandate constituencies.

The leaders of Novgorod Yabloko taking part in the elections to the Novgorod Regional Duma are:

Anna CHEREPANOVA, Deputy Chair of the Yabloko party, economist;

Members of the regional Bureau:

Valery KOCHNEV, surgeon;

Alexander POSREDNIKOV, employee of the Akron company;

Yelena TULINA, teacher of Russian language and literature;

Viktor SHALYAKIN, veteran of the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation;

Andrei SHUVALOV, insolvency officer.

90% of the candidates are members of the Yabloko party, people of different ages and professions, both experienced and first-time politicians. Fifteen candidates are women, and 17 are men.

All of them are taking part in the elections to give the people of Novgorod the chance, on 20 September, to vote for peace, freedom and a life without fear.

“We have to point out that three leaders of Novgorod Yabloko have been barred from taking part in the elections on political grounds,” Novgorod Yabloko stresses.

These are people who have been designated a “foreign agent” status or subjected to administrative prosecution, which bars them from taking part in election campaigns. They are: Ksenia Cherepanova, head of the regional Anti-Corruption Colicy Centre; Yelena Ivanova, Deputy Chair of the Novgorod branch of the party; and Anton Kostryukov, a Yabloko member from Staraya Russa.
