Lev Shlosberg released from house arrest
Press Relese, 7.10.2025

On 7 October, the court changed the preventive measure for Yabloko party Deputy Chairman Lev Shlosberg: instead of house arrest, it imposed a ban on certain actions. The order came into force today, 8 October, and is valid indefinitely, until the court verdict.
Lev Shlosberg is still prohibited from using any means of communication —telephone, internet, and messengers, regardless of purpose. In emergency situations, he is permitted to call an ambulance, police or the Ministry of Emergency Situations. But such calls must be reported to the supervising body. In addition, he is prohibited from sending and receiving postal and telegraph correspondence.
It is still not possible to send Lev Shlosberg a letter or message, but words of support can be written to his wife Zhanna and father Mark Naumovich. We have created a special form for this purpose.
At the same time, the politician can now move freely around the Pskov Region — within the framework of a written undertaking not to leave in connection with the case of evading “fulfilment of ‘foreign agent’ obligations”, and also meet and speak with people — in person, without restrictions. Lev Shlosberg is also now allowed to leave home at any time, work, socialise, and attend events. There are no time limits for this.
It should be noted that a criminal case for repeated “discrediting of the army” was opened against Lev Shlosberg due to a debate with historian Yury Pivovarov, in which the Shlosberg defended the position of the need for the earliest possible ceasefire. On 11 June, the judge placed the politician under house arrest for two months. On 6 August, another judge granted investigator Dmitry Vasiliyev’s petition and extended Lev Shlosberg’s house arrest for another two months. The politician and his defence lawyer challenged each of these orders in the Pskov Regional Court and the Third Cassation Court of General Jurisdiction.
At the beginning of October, investigator Dmitry Vasiliyev again applied to the Pskov City Court with a petition to extend house arrest until 8 December. Unlike previous hearings, this one was open, despite requests from the investigator and prosecutor to close the proceedings “in connection with investigative secrecy”.
