Yabloko held a Lesson of Peace – an art workshop for refugee children
Press Release, 16.09.2025

Drawing dreams, making wishes and feeling like an important part of the community – this is the kind of workshop that Yabloko devised together with volunteers for refugee children whom the Committee for Civil Assistance is taking care of. The children painted with acrylic paints, decorated biscuits, and also danced to their favourite music, marvelled at the wonders of a bubble show and congratulated each other on the start of the new school year.
“Creativity makes a person free, expands the boundaries of thinking and helps overcome external limitations. We are all now in the difficult situation of ongoing military actions. Our today’s guests have had to endure far greater hardships. I hope our Lesson of Peace will not only put them in a good mood, but will bring them benefit – contribute to developing creativity and inner freedom,” Yabloko Chairman Nikolai Rybakov said about the party’s charitable action.
At the end of the event, workshop participants had a surprise: the puzzle pieces that children and adults painted with their dreams came together to form a symbol of peace on earth – a dove.
“Peace means people: their desires, dreams and aspirations. Happiness is clear skies, sun, rainbow, sea, favourite toys, and their loved ones nearby. But these simple things are the most precious in every person’s life. For the last three and a half years we have dreamt of one thing – that every child affected by military action would find a home, tranquility, the opportunity to realise their wishes and create freely. May this happen as soon as possible,” Nikolai Rybakov concluded.
Yabloko thanks the volunteers for their help in organising the workshop, as well as all guests for their good company.
