The decision to extend the preventive measure was made by a judge of the Pskov City Court. The hearing was held in a closed session. Journalists were asked to leave the courtroom before the court ruling was announced.
It should be noted that a criminal case was opened against Lev Shlosberg for repeated “discrediting of the army” due to debates with historian Yury Pivovarov, in which the politician defended the position of the necessity of an immediate ceasefire. On 11 June, he was placed under house arrest.
Yabloko asks its members and all those sharing our views to support Lev Shlosberg, his family and the Pskov Yabloko team by writing of support to them.
Lev Shlosberg became the fifth party member accused in criminal cases related to the special military operation. Leaders of the Yakutsk and Vologda Yabloko branches of Yabloko Anatoly Nogovitsyn and Nikolai Yegorov were found guilty of “discrediting the army” and sentenced to 200,000 roubles fine each. Journalist from Khakassia and Yabloko member Mikhail Afanasyev was found guilty of spreading “fakes about the army” and sentenced to 5.5 years of imprisonment. Court hearings are ongoing in the criminal case against party activist from St.Petersburg Vasily Neustroyev, who is accused under six articles of the criminal code, including the article about “fakes about the army”. He is currently in pre-trial detention. Leader of Kamchatka Yabloko Vladimir Yefimov was found guilty in three criminal cases for “discrediting the Russian Armed Forces” and “displaying extremist symbols”: he was fined 200,000 roubles and is also serving his sentence in a penal settlement colony in Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky.
In addition, court hearings are ongoing in another criminal case against Lev Shlosberg allegedly for non-compliance with “foreign agent” legislation (Article 330.1, Part 2 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation).
