The current deputy of the Kriushinsky rural settlement of the Klepikovsky district of the Ryazan region from the Yabloko party, Maria Rakcheyeva, will take part in the elections of deputies of the Klepikovsky municipal council. Electoral district No. 1, in which Maria Rakcheyeva is running, includes the towns of Kriusha, Malinovka, Ryabinovka, Tyukovo, as well as twenty small villages. To register for the elections, the Yabloko candidate must submit to the electoral commission 14 signatures in support of her nomination.
Maria Rakcheyeva, 34, is a correspondent for the Panorama Goroda newspaper, and was previously a journalist for the leading independent media outlet in the Ryazan region, Vid Sboku, the editor-in-chief of which is Konstantin Smirnov, a currently imprisoned municipal deputy from Yabloko and Chairman of the regional branch of the party.
Maria Rakcheyeva speaks about her motives for participating in the elections:
“Thanks to my work and the Vid Sbuku meida web-site, where I worked, we covered the problems of residents, our struggle to improve life in the villages. I am very proud that over these four years we have managed to start solving issues that have not been resolved for years. In particular, to start gasification of villages within the settlement. I would like to go on with this public work, but this year rural settlements are being liquidated in our region. That means we need to go further, to the Duma (Council) of the Klepikovsky District, where, I hope, I will also be useful to the residents.”
Elections in the Ryazan Region will be held on 14 September.
