The Yabloko party has completed the collection of books for the library of the village of Novo-Steklyannoye in the Republic of Karelia. In just two weeks of the campaign, more than 450 books were collected, which will be transferred to the library soon.
The collection took place in party offices in Moscow and Petrozavodsk, the capital of Karelia. It was also organised by party supporters in the town of Pudozh, Karelia.
As a result, the library’s collection will be supplemented with books for children and adults: fiction by Russian and foreign authors, history books, a large collection of children’s encyclopaedias, novels, poetry collections, cookbooks, health books, and textbooks for schoolchildren and dictionaries.
In addition, books will be sent to the library from writer and translator Marina Boroditskaya, who donated one signed author’s copy and eight translated children’s books to the library.
The book collection campaign for libraries in the Russian provinces has been held by Yabloko for the fourth time in connection with Library Day. In 2020, the party organised a large book collection for the burnt library of the village of Yermolayevo in the Krasnoyarsk Territory, in 2022 for the library of Novorzev in the Pskov region, and in 2024 for the library of the village of Kriushi in the Ryazan region.
