Yabloko raised 1.7 million roubles at an auction in support of political prisoners and continues to accept donations

The auction featured 28 lots: works of art and personal belongings of politicians, political prisoners, writers, publicists and journalists, musicians, artists, etc. The most expensive lots of the auction were a drawing by Alexandra Skochilenko, ex-political prisoner who has been recently exchanged, a painting by the famous artist Alexei Rychkov – a gift to Grigory Yavlinsky, a bottle of 100-year-old cognac, a gift from the Yabloko politician Sergei Ivanenko to Sergei Mitrokhin, a statuette of musician Yuri Shevchuk and a disc with the new album of the DDT group, and manuscripts by Ekaterina Shulman. The total amount raised was 1.712 million rubles.

The money raised at the auction will be proportionally sent to the families of seven political prisoners: Igor Baryshnikov, Nadezhda Buyanova, Vladimir Yefimov, Yuri Kokhovets, Grigory Melkonyants, Sergei Mikhailov and Alexei Sokolov.

The organisers continue to accept donations, which will be added to the total amount and sent to help those unjustly deprived of their freedom. The transfers can only be made from Russian bank accounts. Donations will be accepted until the end of the day of 25 September.
