Yabloko to launch the book “Glasnost in Two Cultures. Participants of the First Meeting of Russian and American Women Writers in New York Speaking”

On 9 November, the Yabloko party office in Moscow will host a launch of the book “Glasnost in Two Cultures. Participants of the First Meeting of Russian and American Women Writers in New York Speaking”. The book was published by the Yuri Shchekochikhin Foundation in 2023.
The book presents essays and interviews with participants in the first meeting of Russian and American women writers and literary scholars at New York University in 1991. The “Glasnost in Two Cultures” conference gave a powerful intellectual and creative impetus to many subsequent joint projects and publications. The dialogue between women of the two countries made a serious contribution to the development of research into modern culture, and became an important step in public diplomacy. The book is addressed to both representatives of the academic community and broad public.
Natalya Ivanova, First Deputy Editor-in-Chief of Znamya magazine, Nadezhda Azhgikhina, journalist and Drew Carol Uland University professor, as well as the authors of the essays included in the collection – Svetlana Vasilenko, First Secretary of the Union of Russian Writers, poetess Marina Tyomkina (New York), and critic Yelena Trofimova will speak at the event.
The launch of the book will take place at the office of the Yabloko party in Moscow (the address: Pyatnitskaya 31, building 2, 2nd floor) on 9 November at 19:00.
Admission is free, however, registration is required as the number of places is limited.
