“You can’t even imagine how inspiring is the support from the outside!” Yabloko invites all to its actions of writing letters to political prisoners
Press Release, 23.05.2023
Yabloko will hold actions in support of political prisoners in its offices all over Russia in the coming days. Everyone who would like to help politicians and civil activists who were unjustly convicted or are under investigation is invited to join our actions. Participants of the actions can sign postcards printed by the Yabloko party or bring ordinary letters. Regional offices of Yabloko take up the obligation to send all the letters and postcards to the addressees.
We have developed instructions on what to write to political prisoners so that the letters could pass prisons censorship. Our instructions can help to write letters to political prisoners at any time, even without visiting Yabloko offices. Also we would like to note that actions in support of political prisoners benefit not only the recipients of letters who were unjustly deprived of their liberty, but also to all of us who are undergoing though such difficult times, as Yabloko actions represent meetings of like-minded people.
“You can’t even imagine how inspiring is the support from the outside! It allows you to feel the taste of freedom, thank you! … The Yabloko party is the only one that I would now join without fear of “getting dirty”… It is important to believe in change and not give up in any case, light is stronger than darkness, this is an axiom,” this is what Maria Ponomarenko, a journalist from Altai, sentenced to seven years in prisons for allegedly for spreading “fakes about the army” wrote.
