The decision of the Pravoberezhny District Court of Magnitogorsk, which sided with the Magnitogorsk administration, was appealed in the regional court by Svetlana Sheinova, Chairwoman of the Magnitogorsk Yabloko.
It should be noted that Svetlana Sheinova tried to get a permission for the May Day demonstration “For Peace!”, but was refused by the Mayor’s Office of Magnitorosk, which cited the threat of coronavirus. The same answer, like a carbon-copy, was also issued by the Mayor’s Office of Chelyabinsk to Yaroslav Shcherbakov, Chairman of the Chelyabinsk regional branch of the Yabloko party.
In a number of other cities, Yabloko also filed notifications to the authorities for holding May Day processions. The administrations of some municipalities offered Yabloko to take part in the Z-campaigns. Yabloko regional branches turned down such proposals.
Yabloko succeeded to hold an action only in Miass.
Earlier, the regional court of the Chelyabinsk Region also recognised similar actions of the Chelyabinsk Mayor’s Office as illegal.
