The Saratov branch of Yabloko held “An Evening of Letters to Political Prisoners” action in the Saratov office of the party. In a few hours, 15 people – members of the regional branch, supporters and civil activists – signed 111 postcards that will be sent to prisons to 43 political prisoners, including Sergei Ryzhov, Andrei Pivovarov (whom Yabloko nominated to run in the parliamentary elections in 2021 when he was already detained and demanded his release), Alexei Navalny, Nikita Uvarov, Alexandra Skochilenko and many other.
“Letters and postcards are not just a symbolic gesture, they are an indicator of the humanity of our society. Each of us can spend a few minutes of our time and write a couple of lines of support,” Alexander Soshnikov, Chairman of the Saratov regional branch of the Yabloko party, commented on the results of the action.
It should also be noted that Yabloko sent to political prisoners not only letters and postcards, but also drawings prepared by the children of Saratov residents who are not indifferent to the injustice of the state repressive machine.
The Saratov branch of Yabloko expresses its gratitude to the volunteer of the OVD-Info (human rights NGO) and the Memorial human rights centre for their work in the organization of the action, as well as all the participants of the action.
