Yabloko’s amendment exempts non-state universities in Moscow from property tax
This stimulates construction of new student dormitories

The Moscow City Duma adopted an amendment submitted by the Yabloko faction envisaging exemption of non-state universities from an organization property tax. This measure will affect non-state universities with state accreditation that have student dormitories on the balance and stimulate construction of new student dormitories.
The amendment was adopted to the draft law of the city of Moscow “On Amendments to Certain Laws of the City of Moscow in the Field of Taxation”. The initially introduced draft law did not provide for such a benefit for non-state universities.
According to the deputies from the Yabloko faction, in this way to provide for equal rights of private and state-owned institutions of higher education.
In addition, this measure will stimulate attraction of private investment to construction of dormitories for non-state universities.
