The “European Dialogue” expert group together with the Gender Faction of the Russian United Democratic Party Yabloko opens a cycle of international online seminars “Time for Women” on gender equality and the advancement of women in Russia and the world.
The first meeting will be held on Monday, May 31, at 19.00. It will be devoted to “Discrimination Against Women and the Fight for Gender Equality: European Experience and Its Applicability in Russia”.
The gender wage gap is 23%, and somewhere it even reaches 40%, the share of women in political institutions is on average less than 25%, and even less in companies management. More than a billion women worldwide are denied protection from domestic violence. These and many other problems indicate that humanity is still far from complete equality of men and women in terms of their rights and opportunities.
At our seminar, experts will discuss why there is still discrimination against women in the 21st century, what European countries are doing to solve this problem, and how this experience can be used in Russia.
