On 1 April, the Ivanovo branch of Yabloko sent to the regional Duma a letter asking to include Irina Maltseva in the regional electoral committee as a member with a casting vote.
The regional branch of the party emphasises that Maltseva is one of the most respected experts in the field of electoral law, she has vast experience in observing elections at various levels both in Russia and abroad, and is also a member of the Federal Council of the Golos movement. Despite this, the chances of approval of the Yabloko candidacy are not large.
“My unsuccessful attempts to become a member of the electoral commission with a casting vote will soon be numbered in dozens, but the “fortress” with the falsifiers in it is not giving up. Once again, they will prefer loyalty to professionalism and honesty,” Irina Maltseva said.
It should be noted that the Electoral Commission of the Ivanovo region is formed of 12 people. Electoral commissions consist of several members with a decisive vote, and are formed by representative and executive bodies of the corresponding level or higher electoral commissions, taking into account proposals from political parties.
