Yabloko’s human rights activists filed an application to the Moscow Mayor’s Office for conducting a march “The First of May Against Torture and Discrimination”

Valery Borshchyov and Svetlana Gannushkina, renowned human rights activists and members of the Yabloko party, submitted an application to the Moscow Mayor’s Office to hold a march in the city centre on 1 May “The First of May Against Torture and Discrimination”.
The purpose of the action which the organizers indicate in the application is “making an appeal to society and putting forward demands to the political leaders of the country on the following issues:
– investigation of information on torture by security forces, ending torture and reducing state violence;
– abolition of pension reform, fight against lowering of living standards;
– fight against discrimination and protection of labour rights;
– setting a peaceful foreign policy. ”
The organisers proposed three routes for the march: a preferential route and two alternative routes in the city centre.
The estimated number of participants indicated in the application is up to 3,000 people.
