Galina Mikhaleva: Russia needs a law on gender equality

Chair of Yabloko Gender Faction Galina Mikhaleva participated in the All-Russia Civil Forum 2018. She took part in the discussion dedicated to the problems of domestics violence, labour discrimination and sexual harassment.
According to Galina Mikhaleva, there should be a comprehensive approach to the vindication of the rights of women. The main aim is to establish governmental institutions serialising on gender equality.
“We need to adopt a law on gender equality. The State Duma considered the bill in 1995 but it was postponed. We also need to introduce to post of the Ombudsperson for Women’s Rights,” the political said.
Chair of Yabloko Gender Faction believes that a network of women’s refuges should be opened so that women could have excess to phycological, legal and medial help.
The All-Russia Civil Forum took place on 8th December. Over 50 different events were held as part of the forum.
