Press Release, 30.07.2018
Rallies against raising the retirement age were held in many regions of Russia past weekend. The Yabloko party participated in the organisation of the events. In Moscow, the action in Sakharov Prospect gathered about 6,000 people. Anastasia Bryukhanova, 24-year-old municipal deputy of the Shchukino district in Moscow and member of the Regional Council of the Moscow branch of Yabloko, addressed the rally on behalf of the Yabloko party.
Bryukhanova spoke not only about the pension reform, but also about the raise of taxes, militarization of the country, tortures in prisons, blocking the Telegram messenger and other repressive measures taken by the government. “They want us to be silent. They even carry out their dirty business in silence, but we will not remain silent,” Anastasia Bryukhanova said. She urged protesters to engage in politics, join opposition parties and win elections. “Putin and all his friends are not the present, they are the past and have outlived their term, they are beating and hitting us, threshing everyone indiscriminately, because they are afraid. And they have the right reason to be afraid. We are their employers and we will hold them accountable,” Anastasia Bryukhanova concluded.
