Yabloko received the first applications from potential candidates for the mayoral election from the party

Yabloko’s organizational committee for holding the primaries within the party so that to determine its candidate in the Moscow mayoral election, received signatures of the first potential candidates: Sergei Mitrokhin, the leader of the Moscow branch of the party, economist Igor Nikolayev and Andrei Morev, head of the Yakimanka Municipal Council.
Applicants for nomination must collect in their support the signatures of ten members of the governing bodies of the party, or 20 municipal deputies of Moscow from Yabloko, or 30 signatures of party members. For registration there will be enough and 30 signatures of representatives of any of these categories in any proportion.

In total, 37 people announced their intention to participate in the primaries. The list of applicants may grow: registration of participants will be opened on a special website until 20 May. Also registration for voters is open on the same web-site – at the moment there are about 4,000 registered voters.
The beginning of the public debate is scheduled for 22 May. The final vote will take place on 1-3 June.
Sergei Mitrokhin is one of the leaders of Yabloko, since 2004 he has been heading the Moscow branch of the party. In 2008-2015 Mitrokhin was Chairman of the party. Deputy of the State Duma of the 1st, 2nd and 3rd convocations, deputy of the Moscow City Duma of the 4th convocation. Author of a number of bills of the federal and the Moscow level. Mitrokhin is also well-known for his activities in protiection of human rights, historic preservation activism and environmental activities, as well as carrying out actions of civil resistance. Igor Nikolayev is an economist, Professor at the Higher School of Economics, Doctor of Economics, Director of the Institute of Strategic Analysis of FBK. In 1997-1998 – Adviser to the Government of the Russian Federation, participated in the development of the anti-crisis programme. In 1998-2000 he worked as deputy head of the Department of Economics of the Ministry of Railways of the Russian Federation. Cooperates with the Yabloko party as an expert, was Yabloko candidate in the elections to the State Duma and the Moscow City Duma. In the presidential election of 2018 was a member of the Public Support Staff of Grigory Yavlinsky and was official representative of Grigory Yavlinsky in the elections.
Andrei Morev is a municipal deputy from Yabloko in the Council of the Municipal District of Yakimanka, Moscow, and head of the district. He held posts of financial director in a number of companies. In 2010-2012 he was First Deputy General Director of the investment company AB Capital Inc. He graduated from the Institute of Business and Business Administration at the Academy of National Economy under the Government of the Russian Federation, and the Finance Academy under the Government of the Russian Federation, the Moscow State Institute of Radio Engineering, Electronics and Automation. Has an Executive MBA degree.
