Yabloko begins collecting signatures to register Grigory Yavlinsky as a presidential candidate
Press release, 26.12.2017
Yabloko’s campaign headquarters in 79 regions of Russia began collecting signatures that are required to register Grigory Yavlinsky as a presidential candidate. The party has to collect 105,000 signature until 31 January 2018.
Yesterday, 25 December, the Central Election Commission allowed Yavlinsky to open a special election campaign account to form a candidate’s electoral fund. The account was open this very day and the party managed to pay for the signature lists.
The candidate must bring not less than 105,000 signatures to the Central Electoral Commission until 31 January. But the candidate cannot collect more than 2,500 in one region.
The collection of signatures is taking place in 79 regions of Russia. In Moscow one can put a signature in support of Grigory Yavlinsky in Yabloko’s main office. The campaign headquarters will work daily.
Yabloko has a great experience in collecting signatures for participation in elections. The party collected over 2 million signatures to register Grigory Yavlinsky as a candidate in 2012, in compliance with the requirements of the law. In 2011, Yabloko collected over 150,000 signatures to run in the parliamentary elections.
“The authorities made all in their power to make signature collection process more complicated by appointing the signature collection period on new years’ holidays period. However, I have no doubts that we will achieve our goal. I call the supporters of Yabloko and Grigory Yavlinsky to actively join the campaign. Your help is especially important on the regional level. We are waiting for you in our campaign headquarters!” said Yabloko Deputy Chair Nikolai Rybakov.
