Levada Centre: Yavlinsky is the most recognisable democratic politician
Press release, 14.03.2016
According to a new survey by the independent Levada Center pollster, Grigory Yavlinsky is the most recognisable democratic politician who can participate in the elections. 44 per cent of those questioned in the poll recognised Yavlinky’s surname.
1600 people from 137 towns and 48 regions of Russia participated in the poll in February. The respondents were asked to name the opposition politicians whom they recognise on the list.
Only Mikhail Khodorkovsky had a lead of one per cent over Grigory Yavlinsky among the democratic politicians. But according to the Russian law, he can not run in the elections because he lives abroad and has a conviction. 36 per cent of the respondents recognised the leaders of the Democratic Coalition – Chairman of PARNAS Mikhail Kasyanov and Chairman of the non-registered Progress Party Alexei Navalny.
25 per cent of the respondents recognised World Chess Champion Garry Kasparov. Former co-Chair of PARNAS Vladimir Ryzhkov was recognised by 18 per cent of the pollees. 12 per cent of the respondents recognised Sergei Mitrokhin who had been YABLOKO’s Chairman from 2008-2015. 11 per cent of the pollees recognised independent State Duma deputy Dmitry Gudkov.
The sociologists also ascribed oligarch Mikhail Prokhorov (37 per cent) and former Prime Minister Alexei Kudrin (27 per cent) to opposition politicians.
