Majority of Kommersant FM and Ekho Moskvi listeners called Yavlinsky their President
On 4 March, Grigory Yavlinsky participated in the radio programme on Kommersant FM. The radio created a poll on Russian VK social network with a question: “If the presidential elections take place tomorrow and only two candidates run in them, who will you support – Grigory Yavlinsky or Vladimir Putin?”.
The poll was timed to Grigory Yavlinsky’s interview to the general producer of the radio station Anatoly Kuzichev. The poll was created two hours before the beginning of the interview, and at first the incumbent President Vladimir Putin was leading.
When the programme was on the air the number of respondents increased considerably. By the end of the programme the majority of those who voted supported Grigory Yavlinsky. 54 percent voted for his candidacy. Over 1300 people participated in the poll.
The Ekho Moskvi radio station has also crated a poll with the question “Is Grigory Yavlinsky your President?”. As of 4 March, 51 percent of the respondents voted “yes”. Over 3300 people have participated in the poll.
On 28 February, YABLOKO Congress supported the nomination of Grigory Yavlinsky as a candidate for President of the Russian Federation. The guests of the Congress, independent politicians Vladimir Ryzhkov and Dmitry Gudkov also supported Yavlinsky’s candidacy.
The presidential elections will take place in March 2018, however, Grigory Yavlinsky does not rule out that they may be held earlier if the social and economic situation in the country continues to deteriorate rapidly.
