On 12 December, the Russian Constitution Day, YABLOKO will conduct a picket in support of the observing the Russian Constitution. YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin will take part in the action.

YABLOKO activists will bring placards with the articles of the Constitution that have been violated or not implemented at all.

“We will take almost the same slogan as that used by the dissidents when they protested at Pushkin Square in Moscow 50 years ago: “Observe Our Constitution”. We will try to show that nearly all the articles referring to the rights and freedoms of the citizens have been blatantly violated and turned inside out. The action will be kept in compliance with the law and I do hope that the Moscow authorities will not break the 31st Article of the Constitution [on the freedom of assembly] on this day,” said YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin.

The YABLOKO party agreed the action with the Committee of Protest Actions which will conduct the Demonstration for the Changes later that day. YABLOKO will participate in the demonstration as well.

YABLOKO submitted documents to the Moscow authorities to get a permission for the picket as required by the law. The picket has to take place at Novopushkinsky Garden on 12 December at 12:00.

The demonstration will start at Pushkin Square at 01:00 pm and finish at Sakharov Prospect.
