YABLOKO conducted picketing against nickel mining

YABLOKO conducted a series of one-person pickets outside the Natural Resources Ministry against nickel mining in the Voronezh region on the Earth Day, April 22. YABLOKO leader Sergei Mitrokhin and Chair of the Voronezh branch of YABLOKO Tatyana Shkred participated in the cation. 
The authorities rejected YABLOKO’s claim to conduct mass picketing.
After the one-person picket started a representative of the Ministry tried to sabotage it by trying to tore the poster. But his attempt failed.
“We came to protest against insane nickel mining in the Voronezh region. If the project is brought to life, Central Russia will face serious environmental consequences: deterioration of water supply, poisoning of fertile black earth soil and decrease of yield as a result,” said member of the regional council of the Voronezh branch of YABLOKO Victor Khlebostroyev.
